I specialise in natural light photography, and have a passion for making mommies feel and look pretty and special, as well as then capturing the arrival of the newest member to the family.
My promise to every person or family that comes through my door will be to have a fun relaxing experience and receive unique & quality images. I look forward to capturing the moment for you...
Once your baby has arrived, please contact me as soon as possible to confirm your session. If you are nearing your due date or have just had a baby, please still contact me for current session openings. I love newborns and will do my best to accommodate you.
I prefer to photograph newborns during their first week of life after coming home from the hospital, or when your baby is between 7 - 14 days old. The first week works best to get peaceful sleepy and very nice curly poses. After two weeks of age, they are more likely to be disturbed while sleeping, and can also become colic or baby acne can start to flare. Having said this, I am still happy to photograph babies older.
Newborn sessions generally take a minimum of 3 hours; it normally takes baby about 4 hours to achieve the deep sleep required for posing without awakening.
Feel free to bring refreshments, book/iPad/magazines etc. to keep you nourished/occupied while I work with your newborn, as the session may take longer than expected.
To a large extent, baby determines what happens during the sessions and will probably need top up feeds to ensure a deep sleep. If baby is bottle fed, remember to bring spares!
The studio (which has private toilet facilities), will be heated to approximately 25-30°C, so will feel very warm from the outset. It is therefore advisable to wear layers of clothing that can be easily removed if you get too hot. I always like to include parent shots with your newborn, so please bring a black t-shirt (no logos) to wear for this purpose.
I will pose baby prior to each photograph. Not all babies are able to achieve every pose, so if baby appears uncomfortable at any time, we¹ll abandon that pose and move on to the next.
Because naked babies are prone to the occasional accident during sessions, all wraps, throws, fabrics etc. are freshly laundered before every session and plenty of spares are always to hand!
